Apply to join the Oxfam team!

Want to make a difference in your community?

The Columbus Action Corps is seeking leaders for the 2013-14 year. All you need is a passion for global justice, a desire to end poverty and a willingness to invest time in spreading the word about Oxfam America's in Columbus.

To fully prepare you, Oxfam offers a comprehensive and fun-filled free training in Washington, D.C. from April 13-16. The training focuses on teaching leadership skills, ensuring you know the work style of your co-leader and developing your tabling and community outreach skills. As the final activity, incoming leaders lobby their legislators on Capitol Hill with guidance from Oxfam staffers.

I attended this training in spring 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed it. I met dozens of enthusiastic and compassionate people from across the country. Oxfam does a truly outstanding job of providing volunteers with many resources to lead action corps in their respective cities.

The opportunity to talk with my elected representatives in their offices in Washington, D.C. was a particularly moving and enlightening experience. It is just one of many Oxfam activities that show what a big difference a small group of people can make when they come together for a common goal.

If you feel the need to change the global food system and encourage others to do the same, please consider signing up to be a co-leader with the Columbus Action Corps.

Oxfam America is currently accepting applications now through Feb. 14. You can apply by visiting www.oxfamamerica.org.
